The Journey of Our Yarn

When you hold a bebemoss toy, you see soft ears, cuddly paws, and friendly faces. But before any of these little friends come to life, it all begins with something humble and beautiful: yarn.

From the very first days of bebemoss, we knew the yarn had to carry the same values as the toys themselves: pure, sustainable, and rooted in community. That’s why we’ve always worked with a small, family-run factory right here in Istanbul. They produce GOTS-certified organic cotton with care for the environment and respect for their workers. Over the years, they’ve become more than just suppliers; they’re part of our extended family.

In the early days, I used to drive across town, fill my car with cones of yarn, and bring them back to our little workshop. Today, the yarn comes by delivery truck, but the relationship hasn’t changed. Every time we open a new box, it feels like opening a promise that what we make will be safe, kind, and lasting.

The yarn arrives on large cones, spun thin and delicate. In our workshop, we gather eight strands together to create the perfect thickness, winding them into smaller cones that our artisan mothers can easily take home. From there, the magic of crochet begins; stitch by stitch, toy by toy, life by life.

And nothing is wasted. Every leftover piece, every tiny scrap of yarn that might seem too small to matter, we carefully save. Later, these little bits find a new purpose inside our rattle balls, turning what could have been waste into joy for another child’s play.

Behind each toy is not just a story of women’s hands and creativity, but also a chain of thoughtful choices. From organic fields to family factories, from cones of yarn to little balls of scrap, every step is guided by care: for people, for children, and for the planet we all share.
