Today February 4 th 2019 is World Cancer Day!
2019 marks the launch of the 3-year ‘I Am and I Will’ campaign. ‘I Am and I Will’ is an empowering call-to-action urging for personal commitment and represents the power of individual action taken now to impact the future.
At bebemoss we are concerned about cancer since the beginning of our story, that is why we took a stand and we use only GOTS certified organic cotton yarn. Yes all our toys are made with organic cotton yarn and certified poly stuffing.
This has a double impact: not only your children are not exposed to harmful chemicals we often find in traditional and plastic toys but also there is a big positive impact on Planet earth and health in general.
Organically grown cotton yarn is the key because Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
Did you know that:
- more chemical pesticides are used for non-organic cotton than for any other crop.
- that non-organic cotton accounts for 16% of global insecticide releases
- growing1kg of non-organic cotton uses 457g of fertilisers and 16g of pesticides
The poly stuffing despite being polyester is manufactured from recycled materials.
Many families like mine and not only those battling with cancer are adopting a non-toxic way of life and getting our little ones clean and green toys is a big commitment for your future.
This year like every year we wanted to support those families and especially the kiddos fighting with cancer. We gifted bebemoss toysto cancer children.
The pictures accompanying this post are actually from last year when I visited the pediatric oncologic wing of our local hospital to bring the toys. This was a heartbreaking experience for me, so much nerve wreaking leaving me crying for days. Those children are such warriors and I can not even begin to think what those families are going through! My heart goes to them.
This year I must admit that chickened out and decided not to go in person. I saw my little ones in each of the little patients there and my heart just can not take it!
We send the toys and the fabulous nurses working in the pediatric cancer ward distributed them to the kids.
My heart goes to all little ones and big ones battling cancer.
I am aware, I will spread awareness around cancer issues and I will work towards a non-toxic world. Will you join me?
